WAKULLA COUNTY WORKSHOP SCHEDULED TO DISCUSS AN AMENDMENT TO THE RESTORE ACT MULTI-YEAR IMPLEMENTATION PLAN 

The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners will hold a workshop at 3:00 p.m. on March 18, 2019, in the Board’s chambers to discuss the first amendment to its RESTORE Act Initial Multi-Year Implementation Plan (MYIP).     

Staff will be proposing one project for the first amendment to the Initial MYIP, which is the retrofitting of lift station #76 along US 98.   The retrofit is needed to improve capacity of the lift to handle wastewater from the expansion of central sewer into the Wakulla Gardens and Magnolia Gardens neighborhoods.   Increased capacity is also needed for future connections to central sewer in the eastern and southeastern areas of the County. 

The Initial MYIP approved by the Board on August 6, 2018, was accepted by the US Treasury on September 26, 2018, and included one priority project at an initial estimated cost $1.2 Million in RESTORE Act funds for retrofitting the original Otter Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant Train #1.  This retrofit will bring the Train #1 into compliance with State Advanced Wastewater Treatment standards.  

Both of the MYIP projects will help protect our springs, rivers and coastline by further reducing nutrients that can escape into our groundwater and the atmosphere from untreated wastewater.
